A Fresh Start

Who should attend?

This course is for people wanting to see change in their lives.

Background:

Self development ideas from people such as Steven Covey have been around so long that we could expect everyone to be leading successful lives by now. Given the right tools people can and do change their lives for the better but most people are making little progress. People have dreams that things are going to be different but their reality is that things barely change. Covey accurately told us how successful people became successful but what the world has been waiting for is a clearer vision of how the rest of the population can join the already successfuls.

How you participate:

The presentation is delivered primarily using flip chart and some 3D models. If you would like this to be delivered as a single session this could be as:

Before the break individuals create a picture of where they want to go in life (this involves the use of memetics but no prior knowledge of memetics is necessary). After the break participants work in pairs in such a way as to be leaving with no doubt about what they intend to be successful at and with a realistic plan for working toward that goal. In the days and weeks following the session participants may communicate with Stop Paddling to report progress and ask for support in using the new techniques.

Objectives:

Participants will have a better understanding of themselves. They will remember some old self improvement ideas because they have been presented in new ways. They will remember some new self improvement ideas because they will be practicing them before they even leave the training room. It is hoped that each participant will be successful in their chosen life-changing activity and that they will then go on to make another and another change using the same technique.

Benefits to your business:

Many companies are wanting more change, more quickly. Employees often need to see these requirements from a different perspective to minimise their stress and to help with adaptation.

Employees will be more focused on things they can change and have a new technique that can be used to overcome obstacles that previously could not be moved.

Time for a session:

This course can be as short or long as you wish. The minimum is probably about 120 minutes with a break of about 15 minutes, but could be extended to several sessions on different days as with the "Our Futures" workshops currently being run in Melton Mowbray.

Suggested number of participants:

6 to 12

Things to consider before booking:

Participants must WANT to be successful and be prepared to try some new things to achieve success.

To achieve the maximum benefit participants need to be as open as they can be during the session and with follow up - THIS WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

It is better that participants do NOT arrive with specific objectives, but if they do, they need to be realistic, as the techniques are all to do with small to medium size wins.

E.g. At work it might be reasonable to say, "Complete project A" but it probably will not work if you try "I want to be Managing Director".

E.g. At home it might be reasonable to say, "I want to talk with family more" but not reasonable to say "I want to build an extension by next month".

Participants arriving with a realistic frame of mind will get a lot out of this session.
